Role: Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager
Location: Pittsburgh, PA
Work Arrangement: On-Site
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Summary

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Controller / Accounting Manager to oversee day-to-day accounting activities supporting operating projects and third-party asset management projects.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical accounting knowledge, experience with complex financial reporting, and the ability to manage accounting activities in a high-growth environment. CPA certification is highly preferred.

Essential Responsibilities

• Ensure technical compliance with US GAAP and IFRS , including complex areas such as derivatives, business combinations, and purchase accounting.

• Prepare and issue monthly and quarterly financial reports, including audited financial statements.

• Oversee accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general accounting functions in partnership with dedicated project teams.

• Ensure accounting practices comply with applicable legal requirements and accounting principles.

• Provide monthly, quarterly, and year-end analyses and reporting packages for clients and consolidated audits.

• Ensure compliance filings are submitted accurately and on time.

• Assist in the preparation of budgets and cash flow forecasts.

• Manage day-to-day communication with multiple complex clients and internal stakeholders.

• Assist the Controller with developing internal controls, accounting policies, and GAAP financial reporting.

• Manage and develop junior accounting staff and support effective team performance.

• Interpret complex agreements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.

• Support annual audits and the preparation of audited financial statements, including footnotes.

• Perform other duties as assigned by the Controller.

Education and Experience Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting required.

• CPA certification highly preferred.

• MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

• 7+ years of accounting experience required.

• 3+ years of audit experience with a Big 4 or large regional CPA firm highly preferred.

• Public accounting experience highly preferred.

• Previous people management experience required .

• Demonstrated experience building and preparing complex financial reporting packages required .

• Strong technical knowledge of US GAAP and/or IFRS required.

• Knowledge of current leasing standards preferred.

• Experience preparing annual audited financial statements, including footnotes.

• Ability to interpret complex agreements and determine appropriate accounting treatment.

• Experience managing multiple complex accounting activities in a high-growth environment.

• Experience managing and developing junior accounting employees.

• Understanding of tax laws and government guidelines related to energy and corporate investments is highly preferred.

• Experience in the renewable energy, wind, solar, or energy project development industry is a plus.

• Partnership accounting experience is a plus.

Preferred Candidate Profile

• CPA with strong technical accounting and financial reporting experience.

• Public accounting and/or Big 4 or large regional audit background.

• Proven people-management and team leadership experience.

• Strong understanding of US GAAP and IFRS.

• Comfortable handling complex accounting issues and agreements.

• Strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills.

• Able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.

• Renewable energy, wind, solar, or project-based accounting experience is a plus.
