Senior Project Manager (Onsite)

Overview

Industrial Design LLC is a growing, full-service A&E firm located in Chandler Arizona. Our core work revolves around design and engineering of Basebuild, Progressive build and Site Infrastructure projects for industrial manufacturing companies; our largest client is a very well know Semiconductor manufacturer with multiple sites in the City of Chandler. In addition to infrastructure design and engineering we also offer inhouse services for Tool Installation design, 3D Laser scanning, Concrete GPR, Trimble Point/Datums, 3D/BIM modeling, Vinyl System Labeling and Industrial Layout.

Industrial Design is looking to add an additional Project Manager to the team. Our new PM will manage projects in which groups of engineers and designers create construction documents (‘blueprints’) for utilization by the Owner for Project Bid costing, permitting and construction. Some of our projects are 2D only and are created in AutoCAD, others are BIM projects which are created in Revit.

Responsibilities

• Primary Duties:
  1. Manage design projects:
     1. Conduct bid walks in the field with our customers, trade partners and associated design partners; including walks inside of buildings with active cleanroom protocols.
     2. Communicate project scopes, timelines, expectations and deliverables for each project to the design team.
     3. Drive the project design phase from initial funding through Issue for Construction.
     4. Drive the Project SDC/CA phase from time of construction kick off (construction by others) through final redline incorporation.
     5. Manage project design review meetings.
     6. Lead field walks with staff and customers for issue resolution, including walks inside of buildings with active cleanroom protocols.
     7. Coordinate design team alignment both internally with ID’s engineers and designers and with our external design and engineering partner companies.
     8. Coordinate with BIM modelers and Field technicians when required on your projects.
     9. Protect ID’s interests with At Risk Notices and Design Change Orders.
     10. Prepares and submits pay applications and/or coordinates invoices to customers
     11. Negotiate and issue sub-contract and vendor contracts and purchase orders
     12. Creation of design project micro schedules.
     13. QAQC of all design documents prior to release at each design milestone.
     14. Establish tracking logs for project deliverable documents, ARN’s, Info Need logs, Checklists, Meeting minutes, Field data requests, RFIs, Submittals etc.
     15. Track high level finances and report out in management/financial meetings on progress, status and health (financial and team motivation) for your projects.
     16. Coordinate with internal Safety and the Customer EHS reps to ensure designs are compliant and our team is operating in a safe environment.
     17. Participate in creation of process documentation.
     18. Participate in interview process for potential design team candidates.
     19. Participate in the review process for current design team members.

Critical Skills and Experience

• Requirements:
  1. On site presence. This is an in person, hands on role and there is no opportunity for remote work.
  2. Accountability – you must be willing to own your projects and their performance.
  3. A working understanding of the Design and Engineering role the A/E plays in the overall cycle of design and construction.
  4. 3 years plus of project management work on design projects required, BIM project management preferred.
  5. Excellent time management skills with a strong work ethic and ability to get / remain organized throughout the life cycle of a project.
  6. Highly organized and detail-oriented with the ability to maintain information confidentiality (IP Protocols).
  7. Strong written and oral communication skills are essential, you will be leading in person meetings that will have very large audiences.
  8. Experience with design and construction specs.
  9. Ability to work with a diverse workforce and a global customer, with no hesitations to work across cultural boundaries.
  10. Willingness to mentor and train junior staff.
• Big Plus preferences:
  1. Advanced Technology experience (Semiconductor / pharmaceutical / precision manufacturing or R&D)
  2. Experience with Revit/Navisworks/AutoCAD (experience with VDC projects), ability to fluidly navigate Navis Models with clients and partners.
  3. A working understanding of Level of Detail (LOD) related to modeling scopes.
  4. Experience working with the Intel Corporation and their ILCC contract language.
  5. Experience working with high value, complex projects that involve Lase Scan / Point cloud data, Field Technicians, Modelers, Integrators, Teams made of multiple companies, external safety compliance stakeholders and the managing of intellectual property.
  6. PMP certification, PEP creation / modification.
  7. Experience with BIM 360/AutoDESK BIM Collaborate Pro and Bluebeam studio sessions.
  8. BS in Engineering, Architecture, Project Management; experience will be considered ILO Education for the right candidate.
  9. Construction management experience.
  10. Understanding of Civil NEE coordinate systems.
