Structural Engineer

Job Description

Structural Engineer (Multiple Positions) (Stantec Consulting Services Inc.; Laurel, MD): Support bridge design and inspection projects for Departments of Transportation and local municipalities. Prepare design calculations, plans, CAD drafts, and construction cost estimates, developing special provisions and specifications for DOT and municipal clients. Review contractor submittals and prepare responses to requests for information. Evaluate existing structures and development of load ratings. Prepare engineering reports and technical studies supporting roadway and civil design projects. Perform inspection of simple and complex bridges and prepare inspection reports based on findings. Climb ladders to work at heights necessary to inspect bridges. 40 hours per week, M-F (9:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.). Salary range is $127,130 - $136,200 per year. The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, & work location. #LI-DNI #GTM

Bonus: Individuals in this position may be paid a discretionary bonus.

Qualifications

Requirements:

Must have a Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 5 years of post-bachelor's, progressive related work experience; OR a Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Civil Engineering, or a related field, and 3 years of related work experience.

Of the required experience, must have 3 years of experience with the following: AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications; Bridge Finite Element Analysis; Fiber reinforced concrete design; Structure health monitoring; Using bridge inspection access equipment; Analysis software including Merlin-Dash, Descus I & II, CSiBridge, L-Pile, Leap Bridge Concrete, ABLRFD, and BXLRFD.

Must have an active Professional Engineer (PE) license from the State of Maryland.

Must have valid US driver's license.

Must be able to climb ladders up to 30 feet high and be able to work at heights up to 30 feet using equipment to inspect bridges.

Telecommuting permitted up to 3 days a week.

Pay Transparency: In compliance with pay transparency laws, pay ranges are provided for positions in locations where required. Please note, the final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible. Actual compensation for part-time roles will be pro-rated based on the agreed number of working hours per week.
