U-Haul Moving Center General Manager

Compensation Range: $3,000.00 to $5,949.99 Monthly Location: 3650 S 6th Street Rd, Springfield, Illinois 62703, United States of America Job Summary U-Haul is looking for a responsible, motivated, and thoughtful person to manage one of our moving and storage centers as a General Manager . The role requires keeping the center profitable and efficient by hiring effective staff, tracking inventory, and managing equipment. General Managers solve problems as they arise and oversee fast-paced, rewarding work. Responsibilities Manage the fleet to deliver clean and well-maintained equipment. Perform profit/loss analyses. Hire and mentor new team members. Track and itemize inventory. Manage the personnel budget. Ensure that customers receive the highest quality of care. Keep track of fuel receipts and petty cash. Clean and monitor the premises, maintaining a secure environment. Participate in ongoing continuous U-Haul education through U-Haul University. Minimum Requirements 1-3 years of management experience in retail or another service industry with responsibility for financial results and customer satisfaction. Computer expertise and organizational expertise. Management proficiency in high-volume retail with profit and loss (P&L) accountability. Valid driver’s license and the ability to maintain a good driving record. High school diploma or equivalent. Ability to work weekends and holidays. Work Environment and Physical Demands The work involves moderate risks or discomforts requiring special safety precautions such as protective clothing or gear (masks, goggles, gloves, or shields). Physical demands include occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs (assisted or unassisted) and spending long periods indoors and outdoors, remaining stationary, traversing spaces, repositioning to use tools, and moving equipment.
