Bookkeeper - Commercial Construction

We're a Waco-based commercial construction company looking to add a Bookkeeper to manage the day-to-day financial operations of the business. You'll work directly with ownership and coordinate with our outside CPA firm, who handles GL coding and financial statements.

What you'll do

• Process accounts payable: enter vendor bills, code to jobs, schedule and run payments
• Process accounts receivable: invoicing, customer payments, deposits, collections follow-up
• Prepare and submit AIA G702/G703 pay applications for commercial projects
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and loan accounts monthly
• Prepare weekly and monthly cash flow forecasts for ownership
• Track project billings, receivables aging, and payables aging
• Manage retainage tracking on both AR and AP
• Coordinate with our outside CPA firm on month-end close, payroll, and tax filings
• Maintain clean, organized financial records and audit-ready documentation
• Assist with job cost tracking and reporting as needed

What you need

• 3+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in commercial construction or trades
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop or Online)
• Experience preparing AIA G702/G703 pay applications strongly preferred
• Hands-on experience with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and bank reconciliations
• Solid understanding of construction billing, retainage, and lien waiver basics
• Experience with cash flow forecasting and reporting to ownership
• Strong attention to detail, organized, and able to manage deadlines
• Comfortable working directly with ownership and an outside CPA firm

Nice to have

• Experience with Procore (financials module)
• Background supporting heavy commercial or mechanical/MEP contractors
• Certified payroll experience
