Vice President of Development

Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia and the CSRA

The Vice President of Development serves as a strategic executive leader responsible for advancing the philanthropic growth and long-term sustainability of the Goodwill Works Foundation for Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia & the CSRA (GIMG, Inc.). Reporting directly to the President/CEO, this Executive Leadership Team position plays a critical role in achieving the organization's 2030 Strategic Plan success measures through comprehensive fundraising, donor engagement, strategic partnerships, and community investment. The Vice President of Development works collaboratively with the Vice President of Marketing and other executive leaders to strengthen donor engagement through strategic storytelling, public awareness initiatives, and mission-focused communications. This leader champions a culture of philanthropy by empowering employees, volunteers, board members, and community partners to communicate the life-changing impact of Goodwill's mission while expanding philanthropic support across the enterprise. Key Responsibilities Lead comprehensive fundraising strategies including Annual Giving, Major Gifts, Planned Giving, National Foundation Grants, Corporate Partnerships, Capital Campaigns, Scholarship, and Endowment Development. Build and steward relationships with major and principal donors, national foundation partners, corporate giving officers, elected officials, and community leaders. Personally cultivate, solicit, and steward an executive portfolio of transformational philanthropic relationships. Develop and strengthen faith-based partnerships, the Helms College Alumni Association, and enterprise-wide philanthropic initiatives. Partner with the Vice President of Marketing to advance public relations, storytelling, executive messaging, and donor engagement. Champion Goodwill's Storytelling Academy and support mission awareness through special events, donor experiences, and community engagement. Provide executive leadership for Foundation governance, fundraising strategy, donor stewardship, and organizational growth. Partner with Information Technology to strengthen CRM capabilities and build a universal loyalty program that enhances donor relationships. Collaborate across Retail, Helms College, Edgar's Hospitality Group, Mission Services, Career Centers, and Workforce Development to strengthen philanthropic impact. Participate in strategic enterprise initiatives, including expansion opportunities, mergers, and acquisitions. Executive Qualifications Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred. Seven (7)+ years of progressive executive leadership experience in nonprofit fundraising. Demonstrated success securing $3 million+ annually through comprehensive fundraising initiatives. Proven success cultivating relationships with major and principal donors, national foundations, corporate giving officers, and executive stakeholders. Experience building successful public relations campaigns. Proven success leading teams, managing strategic initiatives, and partnering with executive leadership and governing boards. Humility, energized passion, a sense of urgency, a superior work ethic, and a sense of humor. Visionary leadership with strategic thinking and execution. Exceptional relationship-building and donor stewardship skills. Outstanding communication, presentation, and storytelling abilities. Executive presence with the ability to inspire confidence and influence. High integrity, professionalism, and sound judgment. Ability to lead through collaboration and organizational influence.
