Fixed Income - Research Associate (Emerging Markets & Investment Grade Corporates)

Fundamental Research Group (FRG) Associate – Capital Group As one of our FRG Associates, you will work closely and collaborate with Fixed Income Investment Professionals and peers to deliver valuable insights, conduct bottom-up fundamental research and analysis that will drive investment decisions. You will partner with investors on their coverage to help generate investment ideas and monitor holdings by conducting deep fundamental research on bond issuers, performing financial analysis, drafting research notes, facilitating meetings with issuer stakeholders, sell‑side firms and industry specialists, conducting relative value comparison, and working as a key contributor in the credit investment process. You will work on projects with growing complexity over time, receiving guidance and mentorship from experienced investment professionals. Qualifications You are passionate about building a career in credit research and have a strong interest in corporate credit investing. You have 2–5 years of experience in credit research, investment banking, buyside/sell‑side research or a related field (experience covering emerging markets and/or investment grade corporate credit is preferred). You have a strong desire to continue to develop bottom‑up fundamental credit research skills working in partnership with experienced investment professionals. You have experience with fundamental credit analysis, working with sell‑side firms and industry consultants, Bloomberg, utilizing research tools, trade publications, online sources, regulatory filings, etc., and interpreting this information to generate insightful analysis. You are intellectually sharp, detail-oriented and able to ramp quickly across new issuers, sectors and geographies while producing accurate, high‑quality work. You are a proactive self‑starter who takes ownership, keeps research processes moving and exercises sound judgment in ambiguous or evolving situations. You communicate clearly and concisely in writing and discussion, with the ability to synthesize complex credit issues into actionable investment insights. You have experience developing and maintaining charts, financial analyses and visualizations that support credit research and communicate investment conclusions effectively. You thrive in team settings. You ask good questions, bounce ideas off others and proactively share your perspective. You enjoy learning new things and can flex to varying work styles and expectations. You have an inquisitive mind, demonstrating intellectual curiosity and analytical skills in areas of high complexity surrounding financial markets and industry trends. You apply sound judgment in resolving conceptually complex matters. You collaborate and develop/maintain relationships both inside and outside the organization. You are available for occasional travel on research trips to meet with issuer constituents and investment professionals. You have a bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, STEM or a relevant field of study. You are comfortable using AI / LLM tools to improve research productivity (ChatGPT, Claude Code/Claude Excel). Familiarity with programming languages (Python, SQL, R), data visualization tools (Tableau, PowerBI) and data platforms (Amazon S3, Snowflake, Databricks) is a plus, but not necessary. Compensation and Benefits New York Base Salary Range: $150,155 - $240,248. In addition to a highly competitive base salary, you will be eligible for an individual annual performance bonus, Capital’s annual profitability bonus, and a retirement plan where Capital contributes 15% of your eligible earnings. Variable pay, including bonuses, is part of the compensation structure.
