Job Summary: Provides episodic care to patients following accepted standards and protocols. Primary Job Duties Perform complete physical exams and assessments of patients including urgent, emergent and non-urgent presentation. Select, order, perform and interpret diagnostic tests including wet reading X-rays as appropriate. Analyze reports and findings of tests to diagnose patients. Prescribe or administer treatment, therapy, medication, vaccination and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness and injury. Refer patient to PCP or specialist as appropriate. Perform procedures including laceration repair, I & D’s, IV, removal of foreign bodies, splinting and casting, ear irrigations. Explain procedures, discuss test results and prescribed treatments with patients. Document findings and treatment course in patient electronic medical record including follow-up notes. Direct professional and ancillary staff regarding treatment of patients. Interact with medical practices and emergency room physicians to create a cooperative atmosphere. Maintain up to date knowledge base for medical conditions and injuries that may present to an urgent care setting. Assist with training and orientating new provider staff. Maintain strictest confidentiality (HIPAA). Education Medical degree from accredited university either MD or DO with completion of residency program in Family Practice or Internal Medicine with Urgent Care Experience. Experience Med-Peds or ER. Licensure/Certifications Board Eligible or Certification in Family Practice, Med-Peds, or Emergency Medicine. State and Federal licensure. Experience A minimum of two years clinical experience with pediatric and adult patients preferred. Knowledge Knowledge of medical coding. Knowledge of the principles and practice of urgent care medicine. Knowledge of the principles and practice of occupational health, DOT exams. Skills Competent with common PC applications including Internet, Email and Microsoft Office. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
