MRI Technologist

Perform diagnostic magnetic resonance imaging of organs, organ systems, and blood flow studies. Provide radiologists with images necessary to obtain diagnostic results. Ensure a comprehensive diagnostic report is available to the referring physician. Orient physicians, residents, staff, and student technologists in objectives and applications of magnetic resonance imaging and safety. Assist nursing staff, including witnessing nursing staff in wasting medication and documenting in the required system. Require completion of an AMA-approved program in Radiologic Technology or equivalent. Possess extensive knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathologic processes with emphasis on neurologic, orthopedic, and cardiac physiology. Have thorough knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology as related to the position, as well as aseptic and sterile techniques. Possess knowledge of the physics involved in performing magnetic resonance imaging exams. Utilize all equipment necessary to obtain and document a complete examination. Demonstrate effective communication skills to interact with patients, physicians, and other personnel. Exhibit high levels of analytical and critical thinking skills to perform appropriate scans based on patient history and protocol. Work requires a high level of interpersonal skills for instructing and orienting patients, physicians, medical staff, and students. Prefer magnetic resonance training program experience with clinical internship or one year of clinical imaging experience.
