Human Resources Generalist

Location: Park River, ND | Position Type: Full-Time Department: Human Resources | FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Reports to: Chief People & Experience Officer Summary The Human Resources Generalist supports the day-to-day human resources functions of Polar Communications and assists the Chief People & Experience Officer in providing a positive, consistent employee experience. This position supports recruitment and onboarding, employee records, training, performance and absence management, policy administration, workplace safety program, WSI claims coordination, compliance, employee engagement, and other human resources programs. Support recruitment, new employee onboarding and employment changes. Maintain accurate, confidential employee records and answer routine HR questions. Coordinate employee leaves of absence and return-to-work arrangements. Support employee training, performance management, recognition and engagement activities. Coordinate Workforce Safety & Insurance (WSI) claims and assist with workplace safety programs. Help maintain compliance with employment requirements, company policies and the collective bargaining agreement. Qualifications Strong communication and organizational skills with attention to detail. Sound judgment and the ability to handle sensitive information confidentially. Knowledge of HR practices, leave administration, workers’ compensation and workplace safety, or the ability to develop this knowledge. Comfort using HR information systems, Microsoft Office and other business software. Education and/or experience An associate or bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Management, or a related field is preferred. Previous experience in human resources, leave administration, workers’ compensation, workplace safety, HR compliance, payroll, office administration, or a related position is preferred. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience may be considered. SHRM-CP, PHR, or other applicable human resources certification is preferred but not required.
