Wire Harness Engineer

Location: Berkeley, CA Responsibilities Work cross-functionally with Mechanical, Compliance, and Electrical engineers to define harness requirements, material, and connector selection Create and maintain 2D electrical harness single and multi-line schematics Draft fabrication, manufacturing, inspection, and assembly drawings for wire harness assemblies Identify suitable materials and components for wire harness assembly Work closely with procurement teams to source materials and components from approved suppliers Define routing, shielding, wire color, sealing, and EMI design specifications Collaborate closely with mechanical engineers on wire harness CAD routing through mechanical features and harness fixation points Troubleshoot wire harness bring-up and validation Communicate project progress, challenges, and solutions effectively to team members and management Qualifications A Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical OR Electrical Engineering 2+ years experience in product development (experience in energy storage or renewable energy is a plus) Hands-on experience designing and building electro-mechanical systems and harnesses Expertise with 3D CAD, PLM, and Harness design software such as Zuken E3. Proven expertise in 2D drawing creation software Strong knowledge of industry-specific regulations and standards (e.g., UL, IPC) Familiarity with reading electrical schematics Experience with twisted pair and shielding for communication harnesses Experience working with weather-sealed connectors Salary Range $115,000-135,000 The actual salary offered is dependent on various factors including, but not limited to, location, the candidate’s combination of job-related knowledge, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, age, genetic information, or pregnancy.
