About the Position: The Mississippi Department of Child Protection Services is recruiting for a Social Services Supervisor (working title: Frontline Social Service Supervisor) within the Wellbeing and Permanency Unit in Bolivar County, Mississippi.This position is responsible for supervising and supporting case management activities that promote child safety, permanency, and wellbeing. Duties include conducting ongoing safety and risk assessments, identifying safety concerns, and ensuring appropriate safety plans are developed, implemented, and monitored throughout the life of the case.The incumbent will assist with gathering demographic information on children and families and ensuring diligent search efforts are conducted when contact cannot be made or when such efforts are needed to support timely permanency. This position is responsible for ensuring that the frequency and quality of visits with children and families are sufficient to assess and support safety, permanency, and wellbeing.This position also works to identify the physical, educational, and mental or behavioral health needs of children, parents, and foster parents, and to ensure those needs are addressed through coordination with internal and external supports.Additional responsibilities include coordinating with the local youth court to establish permanency goals; ensuring that foster care placements and living arrangements are stable and in the best interests of the child; and making concerted efforts to achieve timely permanency in accordance with the Adoption and Safe Families Act and applicable agency policies.The incumbent will also work to maintain sibling placements together unless separation is necessary to meet the needs of one or more siblings. When safe and appropriate, this position supports maintaining a child's connections to their neighborhood, community, faith, extended family, tribe, school, and friends.Duties include documenting case management activities within policy-established timeframes, preparing professional court reports, providing professional recommendations in court proceedings, and participating in ongoing learning and professional development opportunities.This position requires work-related travel in a privately owned vehicle, including transporting children when necessary. The position also routinely serves on after-hours on-call duty for foster care and in-home service needs.The incumbent will receive job-related training and must pass a comprehensive test to continue employment and/or advancement.Due to the travel requirements of this position, a valid driver's license and proof of automobile insurance are required.
