Responsibilities

• Provide expert urology surgery services at the VA Health Care System in Columbia, SC.
• Perform a full range of urology surgery services, including clinical coverage, consultations, evaluations, assessments, and treatments.
• Perform minor and major surgical procedures as required.
• Provide on‑call coverage and be available for call‑backs outside of regular clinic hours.
• Collaborate with administrative personnel to manage and monitor consultation requests.
• Ensure timely and accurate completion of patient consults and progress notes in accordance with VA standards.
• Maintain the highest standards of care, meeting or exceeding recognized national benchmarks.

Qualifications

• License: Current, unrestricted license to practice medicine in any State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or the District of Columbia.
• Board Certification: Board Certified by the American Board of Urology Surgeons, with current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Hours of Operation: Regular clinic hours Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM. Operating days Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Physicians must report at least 20 minutes prior to the start of each shift.
• On‑call coverage is required 24/7, including federal holidays, with the expectation to remain within a 30‑minute travel radius of the Columbia VA Health Care System when on‑call.
• Standards of Care: Physicians expected to adhere to the highest standards of care, meeting or exceeding recognized national benchmarks, including those set by the American Association for Urologists.
