We are seeking a dedicated Health Information Technician to expertly manage and organize patient health data, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and confidentiality. This role involves reviewing chart deficiencies, scanning and categorizing patient records, and maintaining electronic health records (EHR) with meticulous attention to detail.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assemble and review medical records for completeness, routing them appropriately according to established protocols.
• Scan internal and external documents into patient charts following departmental procedures.
• Manage requests for release of information, verify authorizations, and maintain tracking logs.
• Handle distribution of incoming and outgoing mail, including materials via pneumatic tube stations and fax machines.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals, administrators, and IT teams to support and maintain health information systems that enhance patient care.
• Securely purge and destroy outdated records in compliance with guidelines.
• Provide courteous assistance via phone and in-person inquiries, managing information requests appropriately.
• Adhere strictly to departmental policies and regulatory standards.

Education and Experience

• High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
• Proficiency in health data management software and familiarity with medical terminology, coding systems, and healthcare regulations.
• Experience with inpatient and outpatient hospital insurance claims filing and reimbursement principles is preferred.
• Strong analytical skills and a commitment to accuracy in a fast-paced environment.
• Competence in operating standard office equipment.

Requirements

• Completion of a Mandatory Reporter course at hire or within six months of employment.
• Compliance with all federal, state, and professional licensure and regulatory training requirements.
