Key Responsibilities of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• Assess patient needs and identify care priorities in accordance with Triage Standards.
• Utilize invasive and non-invasive procedures to manage emergency situations.
• Establish rapport with patients and families, addressing comfort and safety needs.
• Conduct primary and secondary assessments and document findings accurately.
• Teach patients and families about post-emergency care and discharge instructions.
• Collaborate with team members to ensure the best possible patient outcomes.

Requirements of the Emergency Department Registered Nurse

• BLS, ACLS, PALS, and Stroke Certification (AHA or RQI only)
• Current NYS RN Licensure
• One-year acute hospital experience as a registered professional nurse
• Two years of experience in the Emergency Department
