Senior Accountant

Position summary: The Senior Accountant is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the accounting department. This position will include analyzing accounting processes, implementing new procedures, assisting in audits and budgets, and serving as back up for accounting staff. General purpose: To organize and execute the daily accounting processes and to back up accounting staff. Position responsibilities: Account reconciliation and variance analysis Support Inventory Control Specialist and Staff Accountant Manage and perform the close process and financial statement preparation and analysis Invoicing, collections and daily stat reports Manage AR Assist in budget preparation Assist in audits Government surveys Support of manufacturing through the design and implementation of policies and procedures Improvement of processes Provide occasional coverage for Inventory Control and Staff Accountant when needed. Perform other accounting, financial, or administrative tasks as may be required from time to time. Essential skills and experience: BS Accounting or Finance (REQUIRED) 5-8 years progressive accounting experience Experience managing accounting functions in a manufacturing environment Strong computer skills, particularly Sage 100, Ceridian, and MS Office Suite. Cost accounting experience a plus Crystal reporting a plus CPA/prior public accounting experience/MBA/CMA a plus Physical demands and work environment: Physical demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel objects, tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop; or kneel; talk and hear.
