Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, located in Atlanta, Georgia, is the busiest airport in the world by passenger traffic and aircraft movements. Situated about 10 miles south of downtown Atlanta, it spans over 4,700 acres of land. Serving as a major hub for domestic and international flights, the airport offers a wide range of amenities and services to travelers, including numerous dining options, shopping outlets, and transportation connections. Atlanta VA Medical Center (VAMC), a Joint Commission, designated medical facility sits on 26 acres in Decatur, Georgia—just minutes from downtown Atlanta. The main medical center is a level 1A tertiary care facility providing patient-centered healthcare via an array of comprehensive medical, surgical, geriatric specialty services, as well as state-of–the-art diagnostic testing throughout 14 sites of care. With 466 inpatient beds, including a 120-bed Community Living Center, a 40-bed domiciliary, and a 21-bed Residential Treatment Program, the Atlanta VAMC is uniquely positioned to serve the healthcare needs of more than 130,000 enrolled Veterans living in 50 counties across northeast Georgia. The Medical Center, also a teaching hospital, provides hands-on and state-of-the-art technology, education, and research to residents in collaboration with Emory University School of Medicine and Morehouse School of Medicine.

RN Ambulatory/Primary Care - RESPONSIBILITIES (listed are included but not limited to)

• The RN Ambulatory/Primary Care provides patient education.
• Carry out physician orders; administer medications, oxygen, and a variety of treatments.
• Manage therapeutic devices such as respiratory and electrocardiograph machines and other medical equipment and supplies.
• Measure and assess vital signs, height, weight, and neurological status, visual acuity, and hearing.
• Screen patients for alcohol dependence, depression, etc.
• Collaborate and coordinate patient care with other healthcare providers.
• Assign and direct the patient care provided by ancillary nursing staff.
• The RN Ambulatory/Primary Care performs quality control for capillary blood glucose monitoring checks, fridge temperature checks, etc.
• Collect or assist in the collection of lab specimens where applicable.
• Recognize life-threatening emergencies and initiate and maintain resuscitation measures and other emergency procedures as appropriate to the situation.
• Recognize adverse reactions to medications, treatments, and procedures and initiate interventions as appropriate to the situation.
• The RN Ambulatory/Primary Care answers and screens telephone calls, takes off and initiates medical orders.

RN Ambulatory/Primary Care - REQUIREMENTS

• Experience: A minimum of 3 years' experience as a registered nurse.
• Education: An ASN degree from an Accredited Nursing School Program, Bachelor of Science (BSN) degree is preferred.
• Licensure: Must have an active, unrestricted, and free of disciplinary action license as a nurse in a State, District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a Territory of the United States.
• Certification: Must have a current certification in Basic Life Support.
