Job Description We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Operating Room (OR) Registered Nurse to join our surgical team. As an OR RN, you will play a crucial role in providing safe and effective perioperative care to patients undergoing surgical procedures. Your expertise in surgical nursing, attention to detail, and ability to remain composed in high-pressure situations will be vital in ensuring successful surgical outcomes and patient satisfaction. As a member of our healthcare team, you will collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care in the operating room. Responsibilities: Preoperative Preparation: Review patients' medical history, medications, and preoperative instructions to ensure their readiness for surgery. Verify surgical consents and complete preoperative assessments, including vital signs and baseline assessments. Intraoperative Care: Prepare the operating room, ensuring all necessary equipment and supplies are available and sterile. Assist in positioning and preparing the patient for surgery. Collaborate with the surgical team to maintain aseptic techniques and a sterile environment throughout the procedure. Administer medications, anesthesia, and intravenous fluids as directed by the anesthesia provider. Patient Advocacy and Support: Provide emotional support to patients and their families during the preoperative and intraoperative phases. Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns they may have. Monitor patients' postoperative recovery, assessing vital signs, pain levels, and surgical site condition. Assist in transferring patients to the post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) and provide a comprehensive handoff report. Documentation and Compliance: Accurately document all perioperative care, including preoperative assessments, intraoperative interventions, and postoperative progress notes. Comply with hospital policies, procedures, and regulatory guidelines to ensure patient safety and maintain a safe operating room environment. Working Environment: As an OR Registered Nurse, you will work in the operating room within a hospital or surgical center. The role may involve rotating shifts, including days, evenings, and occasional weekends, to accommodate surgical schedules. Qualifications Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state. Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) accepted. Certification in Perioperative Nursing (CNOR) or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is advantageous. Previous experience in an Operating Room or surgical setting is highly desirable. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills. Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment.
