Staff Accountant

Key Responsibilities Reconcile assigned entry level General Ledger accounts on a monthly basis in accordance with departmental standards and report all potential problems to the Manager. Assist with departmental closing procedures on a monthly and yearly basis, including completing interim and year‑end reconciliations, filing of cash receipts, and cash receipts uploads. Participate in the organization’s budgeting process: update budget manual materials, review the software package prior to distribution, and handle questions that occur throughout the process. Prepare and review the annual and monthly budget for income and expense accounts, including related schedules, for various areas within the organization and contact management regarding questions and concerns related to their budget. Assist in the preparation of the forecast for income and expense accounts by analyzing budget and actual financial information, making inquiries of the appropriate management staff, and suggesting changes to the forecast based on those inquiries. Handle budget variance inquiries from management: research the items generating the inquiry, contact departments that provided the coding, and work to resolve the proper accounting treatment of the item. Promptly respond and communicate the resolution to the initiator of the budget variance question. Occasionally contact others within the organization for sharing factual information and conducting investigations. With guidance from the supervisor, may contact outside vendors to gather information. Complete special projects and assist throughout the department as directed. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications 1–3 years of accounting experience in a corporate accounting environment. Experience in the use of PC worksheet applications, word processing applications, and database-related programs (e.g., Excel, Word, Access, MS Office). Ability to work under the supervision and direction of the Manager. Effective oral and written communication skills to enable occasional constructive interaction with others under the guidance and direction of the Manager. Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field. MUST HAVE: Large ERP experience and experience managing large volumes of data and transactions.
