Lecturer: Communication (Full-Time)

Overview The Department of Communication invites applications for a full‑time Lecturer position teaching undergraduate courses. This is a Professional Track, 9‑month faculty appointment that may be renewed. A full‑time teaching load is 4 undergraduate classes in the Fall and 4 undergraduate classes in the Spring. The position may be based at the University of Maryland, College Park, and/or the University of Maryland, Shady Grove. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate courses, including COMM107: Oral Communication Principles and Practices and other courses that contribute to the undergraduate COMM major with expertise in Health and Science Communication, Media and Digital Communication, Political Communication and Public Advocacy, or Public Relations. Deliver classes in person at UMD College Park and/or Shady Grove. Prepare lesson plans, assignments, and assessments that align with the department’s curriculum. Qualifications Master’s degree in Communication, Oral Communication, or a closely related field. Ph.D. preferred. At least 2 years of undergraduate teaching experience. Preferred Qualifications Experience teaching public speaking, deliberation and dialogue. Expertise in at least one of the department’s specializations: Health and Science Communication, Media and Digital Communication, Political Communication and Public Advocacy, Public Relations. Experience using web–based platforms for managing course materials (e.g., ELMS, Blackboard, Canvas). Salary Regular salary range: $35,907.00 – $58,288.00.
