Responsibilities Store Lead Operations / Training:

• Primary or backup to the Department Manager.
• Work during opposite shift to the manager.
• Assist with scheduling department work.
• Carry out supervisory responsibilities following company policies and applicable laws.
• Support inventory control: load, unload, and move product.
• Train partners, direct work, address complaints, resolve issues, and follow up on production plans and execution.
• Perform representative/specialist duties when needed.

Customer Service / Sales:

• Provide training/coaching on superior customer service.
• Take customer orders (telephone and in‑person).
• Answer product questions, assist with selections.
• Use suggestive selling techniques and advanced product knowledge to meet customer needs and build department sales.
• Merchandize products effectively.

Food Safety:

• Slice, package, label, rotate, and cull products for quality.
• Comply with department/store operating procedures.
• Clean/sanitize sales floor, display cases, prep areas, and equipment.

Additional Department‑Specific Responsibilities / Pre‑requisites: Bakery:

• Ensure effective production planning and execution of supporting processes.
• Assist with baking, frying, and decorating as needed.
• Cull bakery products for poor quality and expiration dates.
• Write on cakes with icing per personalized customer requests.

Beauty (Hair, Skin, Makeup): Apply advanced trend knowledge to provide expert customer service. Deli:

• May oversee a specific area such as Service Case, Production, Cheese Shop, or Catering.
• Assist with inventory control (Fresh Production Planner).
• Follow up on FPP inventory functions; ensure perpetual adjustment walks complete.
• Assist with ordering and event order management.
• Train on new systems, tools, processes, and product roll‑outs.

Prepared Foods:

• Serve/package products upon customer requests.
• Educate customers on preparation/reheating instructions.
• Pre‑package condiments.
• Cut, slice, dice, chop food in preparation for chefs.

Produce:

• Lead the department; backup to Produce Manager.
• Lead in‑store production and supervise production partners.

Texas Backyard:

• Strong knowledge of nursery field and plant/chemical recommendations.
• Complete Texas Nursery & Landscape Association training (internal H‑E‑B training).
• Keep up with current nursery trends.

Qualifications & Key Requirements Work Experience: 6+ months of related experience and/or training, or equivalent education/training. - Required combination of equivalent education/training. Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

• Expert knowledge of department production stations (quality standards, set‑up, operation, cleaning, maintenance).
• Ability to read and interpret documents (safety rules, operating/maintenance instructions, production planners, procedure manuals).
• Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or partners.
• Apply common sense/understanding to execute written, oral, or diagram instructions.
• Resolve problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Education:

• Associate’s Degree (AA) or equivalent from a two‑year college or technical school, or 6+ months of related experience.
• Or equivalent education/training.

Licenses/Certifications:

• Completion of Company Orientation.
• Food safety and sanitation training.
• eCommerce Online Ordering training.
• Completion of Texas Nursery & Landscape Association training (internal H‑E‑B training).
