JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary

Department: Lab Cytology

Shift timings : 07:30 - 16:00 Hours. Monday to friday (3 Days/12 Hours)

Per Week: 36 Hours

Roles & Responsibilities

• Perform microscopic examination of cellular samples, applying staining techniques and employing various laboratory equipment to identify and classify abnormal cells.
• Interpret the morphological features of cells to detect the presence of precancerous or cancerous conditions, infections, or other abnormalities.
• Collaborate with pathologists and other healthcare professionals to evaluate test results and contribute to the formulation of accurate diagnosis reports.
• Maintain accurate records of samples analyzed, test results, and any necessary follow-up procedures or recommendations.
• Ensure quality control measures are implemented and followed rigorously to maintain accuracy and reliability of laboratory results.
• Stay updated with the latest advances in cytological techniques, diagnostic criteria, and equipment to ensure the highest standard of practice.
• Provide guidance and support to laboratory staff, including training new technicians or assistants, as needed.
• Adhere to established laboratory safety protocols, including the proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Participate in quality improvement initiatives, including evaluating and implementing new laboratory procedures or technologies.
• Communicate effectively with patients, explaining procedures and addressing any concerns or questions they may have regarding sample collection or test results.

QUALIFICATIONS

• BLS and ACLS
• National Institutes of Health (NIH)
• Sound knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathology, and medical terminology.
• The ability to stand for extended periods.
• Strong technical skills.
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Passionate about patient care
• Requires a minimum of two years of current Cyto Technologist experience.
• Graduate from a fully accredited Cyto Technologist program
• Active unencumbered Indiana Cyto Technologist license
• One year of Cerner experience

Requirements
• COVID vaccine with 2 Shots & Booster.
