Direct Support Specialist

Job Description

The Direct Support Specialist provides person-centered care to adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities in a residential home setting. This role supports daily living, comprehensive personal care, medication reminders, health monitoring, behavioral needs, safety, community participation, and crisis response while maintaining accurate records in the organization-specific documentation platform.

Responsibilities

Deliver person-centered care tailored to each individual's needs and preferences.
Provide daily living support and comprehensive personal care.
Assist with medication reminders and monitor health-related needs.
Provide behavioral support and respond appropriately during crises.
Support community integration and participation in daily activities.
Monitor safety and maintain a secure residential environment.
Document services, observations, and incidents in the organization-specific platform.

Preferred Qualifications

Entry-level experience in direct support services.
High school diploma or equivalent.
Knowledge of person-centered care and daily living activities.
Experience with medication assistance and documentation.
Knowledge of crisis intervention practices.
Strong communication skills.
