Position Description:
The Fleet Chemist supports chemical analysis and monitoring activities that ensure fossil-fueled generation assets operate safely, efficiently, and reliably. The role serves as a subject matter expert for the generation fleet by developing specifications and procedures, assisting with troubleshooting efforts and optimizing processes. It documents findings, evaluates trends, and provides guidance to operations and maintenance teams. The position contributes to maintaining optimal chemistry conditions that protect equipment, support combustion and boiler processes, and uphold environmental standards.
Essential Job Tasks:
• Monitor chemical testing and analysis on cycle chemistry, circulating water and related chemical utilization
• Document laboratory results, maintain accurate records, and track chemical trends
• Support troubleshooting of equipment issues related to chemical conditions
• Develop and maintain chemistry control procedures
• Coordinate sampling activities with plant operations and maintenance teams
• Ensure laboratory practices comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards
• Provide guidance on chemical conditions that impact generation efficiency and equipment reliability
• Support environmental sampling and reporting requirements
• Recommend improvements to chemistry practices based on results and observed trends
• Responsible for SCR Catalyst lifecycle management including budgeting, developing specifications, procurement of catalyst and monitoring SCR performance.
• Assists generating stations with catalyst replacement projects during planned outages
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Chemistry
- 2+ years of relevant experience
Compensation Information:
$104,620 - $130,770 (min. - mid.)
