About the Opportunity:

A leading national law firm is seeking a talented Labor & Employment Associate Attorney to join its growing practice in either St. Louis or Kansas City. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney looking to work on sophisticated employment and labor matters while receiving mentorship from experienced practitioners in a collaborative and supportive environment.

The ideal candidate will have experience counseling employers on a broad range of workplace issues and representing clients in employment-related disputes and litigation. This role offers meaningful client interaction, significant responsibility, and a clear path for professional growth.

Responsibilities

• Advise public and private employers on a variety of employment and labor law matters.
• Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, restrictive covenant agreements, employee handbooks, policies, and related employment documents.
• Conduct workplace investigations and provide practical legal guidance regarding employee relations issues.
• Counsel clients on non-compete, trade secret, and restrictive covenant matters.
• Handle administrative charges before federal and state agencies.
• Manage employment litigation matters from inception through resolution.
• Represent clients in matters involving:
• Employment discrimination claims
• Wage and hour disputes
• Retaliation and wrongful termination claims
• Restrictive covenant and trade secret disputes
• Work directly with clients to develop legal strategies and business-focused solutions.
• Collaborate with partners, associates, and support staff to deliver exceptional client service.
• Contribute to business development initiatives and client relationship management efforts.

Required

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school.
• Active Missouri law license and good standing.
• Minimum of 3 years of Labor & Employment experience within a law firm environment.
• Strong legal research, writing, analytical, and advocacy skills.
• Ability to manage multiple matters and deadlines effectively.
• Excellent interpersonal and client-facing communication skills.

Preferred

• Experience advising both public and private employers.
• Experience handling employment litigation and agency proceedings.
• Exposure to traditional labor law matters, including:
• Collective bargaining negotiations
• Union organizing campaigns and elections
• Unfair labor practice proceedings
• Labor disputes involving strikes, picketing, and related issues
• Interest in expanding a traditional labor practice.
