Patient Accounts Representative

Clay County Medical Center is seeking a full-time Patient Accounts Representative working 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday. The role involves managing private-pay patient accounts, assisting patients and guarantors with payments, payment plans, and financial assistance. Responsibilities include posting patient payments, generating and approving patient billing statements, and communicating with outside collection agencies. Additionally, the position supports other duties as assigned, following established policies and procedures, and in compliance with 501r, HIPAA, regulatory agencies, and the organization's Code of Conduct.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

• Supports and upholds the organization's philosophy of customer service.
• Exhibits a positive attitude with a professional and pleasant demeanor when communicating with all customers and providing information.
• Consistently uses diplomacy and respect both in person and when using the telephone, and performs effectively and professionally under stressful conditions.
• Ensures customer concerns are processed in compliance with organization's policies while maintaining the highest level of patient and employee rights, including confidentiality of patient information and personnel issues.
• Recommends organization and departmental improvements based on appropriate customer concerns.

Qualifications:

• HS diploma/GED required.
• Associates Degree or equivalent undergraduate hours preferred.
• One-year experience in healthcare financial services, healthcare registration services, or related healthcare experience preferred.
• Keyboarding skill or typing skill of at least 30 wpm strongly desired.
• Excellent customer service skills.

Level 2: Light Work

• Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree: or requires sitting most of the time but entails and/or pulling of arm or leg controls.
