Role Description The Trades Specialist 2 – HVAC is a full-time, on-site role based in Charlotte, NC, responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems across Advocate Health facilities. This role performs routine and preventive maintenance on HVAC equipment, including troubleshooting mechanical and control issues, replacing parts, and ensuring systems operate efficiently and safely. The Trades Specialist 2 – HVAC monitors building environmental systems, responds to work orders and emergency calls, and documents all maintenance activities in accordance with organizational standards. The role collaborates with other trades professionals, contractors, and facility leadership to plan and execute projects, minimize downtime, and support a comfortable and compliant environment for patients, visitors, and staff. Daily tasks also include following safety protocols, adhering to regulatory and building code requirements, and participating in inspections and system performance checks. Qualifications Demonstrated proficiency in HVAC system installation, maintenance, and repair, including chillers, boilers, air handlers, and ventilation equipment. Strong skills in diagnostics and troubleshooting of mechanical, electrical, and control systems related to HVAC and building automation. Knowledge of relevant safety practices, building codes, and regulatory standards, with a commitment to safe work habits and preventive maintenance. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and equipment manuals, and to use standard HVAC tools and test instruments. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to coordinate work with other trades, vendors, and facility staff. High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an HVAC trade school program or apprenticeship is highly preferred. Previous experience in commercial or institutional HVAC work, ideally in a healthcare or large facility environment. Appropriate HVAC-related certifications or licensure (such as EPA refrigerant handling certification); willingness to maintain and update credentials as required. Ability to work on-site in Charlotte, NC, including occasional off-hours, weekends, or on-call shifts as facility needs require. #J-18808-Ljbffr
