Certified Surgical Technologist – Danbury Hospital $15,000 sign‑on bonus for qualified, certified surgical technologists. Danbury Hospital, part of Nuvance Health, is a 456‑bed acute care facility offering a range of specialty services. This is a full‑time union role for a surgical technologist. Working days are Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 11:00 AM to 11:30 PM with variable shifts and assigned call. Pay ranges from $66,400 to $93,000 per year, based on experience, with shift differentials. Job Summary: Assist in the nursing care of surgical patients before, during and after procedures. Provide a safe, efficient, and supportive environment and perform scrub duties. Responsibilities Provide a safe, efficient, and supportive environment for the surgical patient. Apply knowledge of normal pathological anatomy and physiology and pharmacologic agents to individualize patient care. Apply principles of asepsis to provide optimum patient care, respecting privacy, dignity and confidentiality. Prepare and know the specific use of all equipment and supplies for surgical procedures and demonstrate knowledge of step‑by‑step progress of procedures. Anticipate the needs of the surgeon to expedite the procedure, minimizing patient exposure to surgical and anesthetic stress. Develop and improve skills in organizing work and assisting the surgeon with time, motion and material efficiency. Identify emergency situations and use judgment to respond calmly and efficiently. Complete at least 10 hours of continuing education per year, maintain certification, complete preceptor training and provide instruction to students and staff. Participate in providing in‑servicing to other staff relative to the role as a surgical technologist. Function efficiently and professionally in all aspects of surgical care, both routine and special duties, emphasizing teamwork, consideration and cooperation. Fulfill all compliance responsibilities related to the position. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications Required: Surgical Technologist Certification. Minimum Experience: one year in a surgical setting. Working Conditions Manual: significant manual skill, motor coordination and finger dexterity. Occupational: significant occupational risk.
