Equipment Operators

The Town of Vinton Public Works Department is seeking dependable, safety-focused Equipment Operatorsto support essential community operations and maintenance. This position plays a key role in keeping Vinton's streets and public infrastructure functioning smoothly for our residents.

1. Operate heavy equipment such as backhoes, loaders, dump trucks, skid steers, and other machinery used in Public Works operations
2. Perform street maintenance, utility work, snow removal, storm response, and other municipal service tasks
3. Conduct daily equipment inspections and report necessary maintenance
4. Follow all town, state, and federal safety policies and procedures
5. Assist with manual labor and crew duties when equipment operation is not required
6. Work collaboratively with Public Works teams to complete projects efficiently and safely

1. Previous experience operating heavy equipment preferred
2. Valid Virginia driver's license; CDL Class B or ability to obtain required
3. Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
4. Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and teamwork
5. High school diploma or equivalent preferred
