Estimator Wastewater

An experienced Estimator is required to support the planning and delivery of wastewater infrastructure projects. The successful candidate will prepare accurate, competitive and commercially sound estimates for projects involving wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, sewer networks, rising mains, drainage systems and associated civil, mechanical and electrical works. Working closely with project managers, engineers, suppliers and subcontractors, you will help ensure that tenders are completed to a high standard and submitted within agreed deadlines.


Key responsibilities will include reviewing drawings, specifications, scopes of work and contract documents; carrying out detailed quantity take-offs; preparing bills of quantities and cost plans; obtaining and assessing supplier and subcontractor quotations; and identifying opportunities, exclusions, risks and value-engineering options. You will maintain clear estimating records, validate pricing assumptions, contribute to tender adjudications and support the preparation of commercial submissions. The role may also involve attending site visits, clarification meetings and pre-tender discussions, as well as assisting with project handovers to delivery teams once work has been secured.


Applicants should have previous estimating experience within wastewater, water, utilities, civil engineering or a related construction environment. A sound understanding of wastewater construction methods, materials, temporary works, health and safety requirements and relevant industry standards is essential. You will need strong analytical and numerical skills, excellent attention to detail and the ability to interpret technical information and commercial documentation. Experience using estimating, cost-management or quantity-surveying software, together with proficiency in Microsoft Excel, is highly desirable. Strong communication and negotiation skills are important, as is the ability to manage competing priorities and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A relevant qualification in civil engineering, quantity surveying, construction management or a related discipline would be advantageous.
