Registered Nurse - Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU)

Job Summary

Join the dedicated team at MVHS-Wynn in Utica, New York, as a Registered Nurse in our Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU). This 64-bed unit, including 15 designated neurological beds, provides comprehensive care to adult patients (18 years and older) facing a wide range of complex medical conditions.

As an IMCU RN, you will play a crucial role in monitoring and managing patients with diverse diagnoses such as neurological disorders, cardiac conditions (MI, CV stepdown), trauma, respiratory illnesses (COPD, chronic vents), DKA, Sepsis, and post-operative care. This role requires proficiency with specialized equipment and the ability to adapt to varying patient needs, including floating to other units as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct, high-quality nursing care to adult patients (18+) in an Intermediate Care Unit setting.
• Monitor, assess, and manage patients with complex medical conditions including neurological, cardiac, trauma, and respiratory issues (e.g., COPD, DKA, Sepsis, Myocardial Infarction, CV stepdown, post-operative care).
• Operate and manage specialized medical equipment such as temporary pacemakers, chest tubes, arterial lines, BiPAP, and Neptune Vapo.
• Care for patients requiring chronic ventilator support, collaborating closely with Respiratory Therapy for optimal patient outcomes.
• Accurately document all patient care, observations, and interventions using the EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
• Float to other units within the facility as staffing needs dictate.

Required Qualifications

• Active and unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) licensure.
• Minimum of two (2) years of recent, acute care experience in an Intermediate Care Unit (IMCU) or Progressive Care Unit (PCU) setting.
• Proficiency with EPIC Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.
