Insurance Verification SpecialistSenior

The Insurance Verification SpecialistSenior completes insurance verification duties to obtain primary insurance data to determine patients' eligibility for visits by verifying insurance, correcting patient demographics, and obtaining referrals as needed. May mentor newer team members.

Responsibilities

Responsible for assisting with training for new hires. Review new and follow up patient registration, obtain and manage referrals, advise on co-pays and deductibles. Contacts PCP and/or Clinic to coordinate and obtain accurate and current referral documentation, once confirming patients have established care. Effectively navigates between multiple verification tools to obtain thorough eligibility and benefits material. Assists in developing departmental processes. Provide support and assists leadership on specific projects. Coordinate with UHS Financial team clearing patients obtaining referrals and Authorizations as needed for Pre and Post, Transplant patients and Subspecialties. Completes all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Knowledge of patient billing or collection/reimbursement procedures in a healthcare setting. Detail oriented with the ability to organize, prioritize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner. Able to multi-task in a fast-paced, high-volume environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Medical healthcare records software experience.

EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED

Required Skills

Four (4) years of medical experience in the healthcare industry, emphasizing medical claims and Health Insurance. Hospital experience preferred.
