Job Summary:
Psychiatric Nurse Manager position located in the Bronx, New York. This role involves overseeing unit operations within a dedicated psychiatric department, managing staff, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The Nurse Manager provides leadership and clinical oversight in a high-capacity adult inpatient psychiatric setting.

Job Details:

• Schedule: 7.5-hour shifts, with a minimum of 37.5 hours per week.
• Required Qualifications: Certification on Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing; BLS (American Heart Association); ACLS (American Heart Association); PALS (American Heart Association); Minimum of 1 year of psychiatric experience.
• Preferred Qualifications: MSN degree; Certification in Psychiatry Mental Health Nursing.
• Unit & Patient Information: Department with a maximum capacity of 40 beds, divided into sections for specific patient populations. No cardiac monitoring or telemetry required, but staff must identify critical rhythms. Psychiatric diagnoses include severe mental illnesses such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depressive disorder, and anxiety; patients are typically medically stable.
• Responsibilities: Leadership in unit management, staff oversight, patient safety, compliance with behavioral health regulations, and infection control practices. Orientation includes three weeks of training: one week classroom, one week inpatient units, and one week on the assigned unit.
• Additional Information: The role includes oversight of restraint use, behavioral health protocols, and suicide prevention education. Staff may be asked to float to inpatient units as needed. The position is scheduled to start on 09/16/2026.
• Shift & Scheduling: Three 8.5-hour shifts with a one-hour lunch break. Willing to work with time-off requests and allow shift trades as needed.
• Weekend & Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend; may be asked to participate in holiday rotations.
• Float & Other Requirements: May be asked to float to inpatient units. No call or standby requirements.
• Certifications & Licensure: Must have active license and evidence of required certifications.
• Additional Notes: The organization utilizes the Allscripts electronic charting system (formerly known as Allscripts). The role reports to the Director of Nursing and is responsible for implementing performance improvement and quality assurance initiatives.
