This role serves as a clinical leader within the YIU Treatment Team. The Clinical Manager assists in the operations of KMHS in support of its stated mission and provides the highest level of customer services to internal and external customers.General Summary of DutiesAssist in hiring, training, coaching, developing and evaluating qualified staff.Consult with the Director regularly and on-going regarding all aspects of the program, including clinical and administrative procedures.Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team on admissions and milieu managementProvide clinical and administrative supervision to mental health professionals, milieu managers and discharge planner.Provide direct clinical services as indicated.Conduct regular and ongoing clinical and clerical record reviews; ensure that all documentation is completed in a timely manner in accordance with Acute Services, agency, contractual and regulatory requirements.Assist in coordinating all aspects of resource management, appropriate handling of case assignments, signing treatment plans, authorization, and caseload management.Facilitate team meetings, consultations, clinical supervision, education and training activities; coordinate activities with other programs.Work as an integral member of the KMHS supervisory team and represent KMHS positively in the community. Develop a positive working relationship with other child-serving agencies in the community and establish a team approach. Provide consultation, education, and training as needed to KMHS staff, school personnel, and other agencies or individuals regarding clinical and program issues.Review and approve milieu curriculum.Conduct ongoing assessment of milieu acuity and client risk, collaborating in a timely manner with staff as needed to ensure effective de-escalation and use of least restrictive alternatives up to seclusion and restraint.Participate in developing and implementing agency treatment philosophy.Identify client and community needs and assist in enhancing and developing services to address identified needs.Promote the enhancement of positive staff morale by facilitating a timely response to concerns, ensuring respectful and professional internal communications, facilitating team building and providing opportunities for staff recognition.Attend all mandatory trainings on time and as scheduled.Keep current on all required documentation (i.e., food worker permit, counselor licenses, etc.).In addition to the above, any other responsibilities appropriate to the position and not specifically listed in the job description.Supervisory Responsibilities : YesAverage of 7-8 direct reportsSupervision of Milieu Managers, Mental Health Professionals and Discharge Planner.Hiring, training, coaching, supervision, and scheduling of direct reports. Assist program director in annual performance review process.Minimum QualificationsEDUCATION: Master's Degree in Psychology, social services, or behavioral health.EXPERIENCE: Specialist (minimum 5 years of job-related experience). 2 years' experience in staff supervision and program supervision/development.This position requires driving clients in a personal vehicle on behalf of the agency; therefore, the incumbent must successfully complete a motor vehicle history check, possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in the state of Washington, and have reliable, insured transportationLICENSURE: Licensed Agency Affiliated Counselor Registration.Current CPR certification (or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire; training provided by the organization).Preferred QualificationsEXPERIENCE: Expert (established subject matter expert, 7+ years of experience)Experience in co-occurring disorders treatment, individual and group therapy, or substance abuse treatment. Three or more years of leadership experience.LICENSURE: Washington License (LICSW, LMFT, or LMHC), able to provide licensure supervision.Performance RequirementsKNOWLEDGE:Maintain working knowledge and skill in verbal de-escalation skills as outlined in agency trainingsMaintain a working knowledge of current trends in community mental healthExperience with theory and practice of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and co-occurring substance use disorders.SKILLS:Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with other employees, clients, organizations, and the public.Capacity to effectively manage a team.Demonstrated skill in staff development.Demonstrated experience providing direct service to individuals with complex needs and challenging behaviors.Ability to communicate quickly and effectively in high acuity situations.Ability to react quickly and perceive environmental stimuli accurately.Confidentiality- able to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards.ABILITIES:Demonstrated ability to work independently and as a team member.Demonstrated ability to work in stressful situations (i.e., clients in crisis).Demonstrated ability to work effectively through complex situations toward joint solutionsAdaptability- able to adjust approach to meet changing demands and situations including working with diverse populations.Equipment Operated: Standard office equipment including computers, fax machines, copiers, printers, telephones, etc.Work Environment : Office and inpatient treatment unit.Mental/Physical Requirements : Performing the essential duties of the job requires:Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.Ability to ascend and descend stairs and navigate indoor environments safely.Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 pounds (occasionally).Ability to assist with client movement and transfers, with or without assistance, in accordance with training and safety protocols.Ability to safely participate in crisis intervention, including implementation of approved de-escalation techniques and physical restraints in accordance with agency training and policy.Ability to move quickly and respond to emergencies, including rapid repositioning or short-distance movement to maintain safety.Ability to use hands and arms for reaching, handling, and manipulation, including reaching above shoulder level.Visual acuity sufficient to read written materials and observe surroundings.Peripheral vision sufficient to monitor clients and the environment.Hearing sufficient to communicate effectively and detect environmental and behavioral cues.Ability to meet and maintain physical requirements demonstrated through agency-mandated training, including demonstration of ability to: maintain balance, twist torso, forward bend, pivot, sidestep, forward and backward step, crouch, move to secure limb, knee touch to ground, kneel, get up from floor sitting or kneeling position.AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY/AFFIRMATIVE ACTION EMPLOYER*A sign-on bonus is a form of compensation for a new employee in addition to their established salary.
