Associate Engineer

Under direction of the Director of Public Works, or designee, the Associate Engineer performs engineering services in the public setting, collaborating with multiple stakeholders.

Examples of assignments include:

• Responds to inquiries regarding topics such as retaining walls, storm drains, sanitary sewer, sidewalks, right of way encroachments, etc.
• Addresses traffic operational and safety concerns
• Serves as lead for staff committees
• Leads Steps, Lanes and Paths activities
• Plans, develops, schedules, budgets and implements assigned projects that may include:
• Streets and Sanitary Sewers Rehabilitation Program
• City parks and facility restoration/rebuilding projects
• Corridor and traffic improvements
• Landslide Repairs Program
• Curb, gutter, sidewalk and curb-ramp rehabilitation

Ideal Candidate

EXPERIENCE & BACKGROUND- The ideal candidate will be an engineering professional with at least four (4) years of increasingly responsible experience and demonstrated knowledge of the nuances and complexities of civil engineering in a municipal context. This person is a self-starter, hungry to learn, and looking for a position that affords them the opportunity to grow professionally and expand their skills. As a proven collaborator comfortable in lead roles, the ideal candidate is adept in effective communication and displays superior customer service skills. EDUCATION & CERTIFICATIONS- The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and possession of an Engineer in Training Certificate. Certification as a Qualified Stormwater Practitioner is preferred. A Professional Engineering License is preferred.
