Graduate Assistantship Opportunity

The School of Professional Studies is pleased to offer a Graduate Assistantship opportunity for an Academic Assistant. This position is ideal for a graduate student who has an interest in academic operations, possesses strong administrative skills, and enjoys serving and supporting both students and faculty in a collaborative academic environment.

Graduate Assistantships (GAs) are available to a limited number of Cairn full-time graduate students who have the skills and abilities to fulfill a professional position on a part-time basis during their period of study. To be eligible for a GA position, the student must have already earned a bachelor's degree and be enrolled in a Cairn master's degree program. Dual-level students may not be considered for GA positions.

Position Responsibilities

• Support the Dean and faculty in their duties.
• Assist with editing and posting syllabi
• Assist faculty in eLearning responsibilities
• Assist students who have questions about classes, faculty office hours, etc.
• Maintain an academic calendar and issue reminders to faculty about meetings and deadlines
• Compile and confirm textbook orders
• Maintain records of course assignments, and teaching and credit loads for all faculty types
• Coordinate with the Office of the Provost and Human Resources Department
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position for extended periods while performing computer and administrative work.
• Ability to operate standard office equipment, including computers, printers, copiers, and telephones.
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, faculty, and staff in person, by phone, and electronically.
• Ability to move throughout campus offices and academic buildings to attend meetings and deliver materials as needed.
• Ability to occasionally lift, carry, and move office supplies, files, books, and packages weighing up to 20 pounds.
• Ability to bend, reach, stoop, and retrieve materials from shelves or filing cabinets.
• Ability to maintain concentration and attention to detail while performing multiple administrative tasks in a fast-paced environment.
