Retirement Eligibility: ORP Eligible Department Summary The University of North Texas at Dallas invites applications for a Visiting Assistant Professor position specializing in Public Administration and/or Public Affairs. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for the 2026-2027 academic year (could be extended). Position Overview The Department of Public Leadership and Administration at the University of North Texas at Dallas is seeking a Visiting Assistant Professor specializing in Public Administration and/or Public Affairs. This is a full-time, non-tenure-track position for the 2026/2027 academic year. Faculty members may be required to use certain texts and meet specific parameters set by the Public Leadership program and will be required to be on campus for face-to-face and hybrid courses, as well as office hours. Faculty members will also be required to include in their courses certain student assessment measures determined by the department, and to compile data on those assessment criteria. Minimum Qualifications Ph.D. in Public Administration, Public Affairs, Public Policy (ABD/Masters candidates will not be considered.) 2-5 years of teaching experience at the university level. Demonstrated expertise in Public Administration, Public Affairs, or Public Policy. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Proven ability to deliver high-impact teaching experiences. Ability to work effectively with a variety of thinkers and learners. Ability to teach on campus at UNT Dallas. Provide quality instruction in graduate Public Leadership and Administration courses matching the instructor’s background, education, and skills base. Provide instruction in a full range of graduate level face-to-face, hybrid and online courses focused on public administration, including, but not limited to, Data Analytics and Research Methods, Public Service & Society, Performance Measurement & Monitoring, Intergovernmental Relations, Healthcare Administration, Public Health Leadership, Leading and Managing Public Organizations, and Public Private Partnerships. Preferred Qualifications Experience with online or hybrid teaching formats. Evidence of scholarly activity in the field of Public Administration. Job Duties Teach graduate courses in Public Leadership & Administration. Develop and deliver high impact and engaging course content. Foster a dynamic and supportive learning environment for an urban student body. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance the department's academic offerings. Participate in departmental meetings and contribute to curriculum development. Physical Requirements Communicating with others to exchange information. Lifting and moving objects up to 20 pounds. Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another. Environmental Hazards No adverse environmental conditions expected. Work Schedule As required to meet the academic schedule.
