Accountant I

The Accountant I has responsibilities that include but are not limited to, performing complex budget and accounting work. This position has considerable latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement. This is a full-time position that reports to LSCPA's Finance Department.

Duties/Responsibilities

• Perform daily budget entries as advised by the Executive Director
• Maintain position control for budget in Banner
• Update Salary Planner for budget changes as advised by the Executive Director
• Perform daily accounting tasks related to budget included EPAFs, activating positions in Banner, and assisting the ED with campus customers with budget requests
• Assist in the yearly budget process under the leadership of the Executive Director
• Assist in the bi-ennial Legislative Appropriations Request (LAR) process under the leadership of the Executive Director
• Record journal entries as needed
• Reconcile quarterly USAS with the Legislative Budget Board's (LBB) Accounting System (ABEST)
• Reconcile state cost centers and perform other reconciliations as needed
• Data entry of State entries into USAS (Uniform Statewide Accounting System)
• Reconcile local bank accounts and perform other reconciliations as needed
• Comply with campus policies and procedures
• Other related duties, as assigned

Minimum/Preferred Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field

Preferred Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting
• Two (2) to four (4) years' experience on jobs leading this, or similar jobs

Physical Requirements:

This position requires employees to remain in a stationary position most of the time; move to various locations on campus; move about inside an office to access documents, office equipment, etc.; and operate a computer or other office equipment, such as a printer or copy machine.
