Join us!This job is responsible for leading a team of employment lawyers and paralegals while providing regular advice to internal clients and managing a docket of litigation, agency, and pre-litigation matters, including claims involving discrimination, retaliation, and wage and hour matters.Key responsibilities include providing employment and labor legal counsel to Human Resources, Employee Relations, and line of business managers, including advising on legal risks, negotiating and drafting employment-related documents, interpreting policies, and applying applicable employment laws and regulations.Job expectations include directing outside counsel, coordinating the work of paralegals and other legal staff, and supporting the resolution of employment-related legal matters and inquiries.Job Description:This job is responsible for providing legal counsel on matters related to corporate functions, such as Corporate Secretary, Employment and Human Resources, Operations, Technology, Procurement, or Real Estate. Key responsibilities include reviewing complex legal documents, interpreting laws and regulations, performing legal research, and providing thought leadership and strategic advice to internal partners on related legal matters of potentially significant impact. Job expectations include directing the work of outside counsel and coordinating the work of Paralegals or other Legal staff.Responsibilities:Provides thought leadership and strategic advice on complex legal issues and implications to corporate functionsProvides clear, concise, actionable, and business-informed legal advice to leadershipDrives the creation of strategies and participates in negotiations to resolve legal and other risks presented by active matters, new technology, and anticipated regulatory changesInterprets rulings, laws, and regulationsDrafts, reviews, and/or negotiates complex legal documents, such as regulatory filings, engagement letters, offering documents, and legal opinionsSupports company responses to government agency examinations and investigations, enforcement actions, private complaints, and litigationDirects the work of outside counsel and other Legal staff, and trains, mentors, or supports the development of peersPartner with Human Resources, Compliance, Risk, Audit, and other control functions to provide guidance on complex employment matters and legal risks.Report employment-related legal matters, policies, and initiatives to senior management and oversee related litigation activity, including the supervision of outside counsel.Required Qualifications:Admitted to state bar in good standingMinimum of 15 years experience at a major law firm or corporate legal departmentMinimum 10 years knowledge of HR and employment law related mattersExperience presenting complex issues in a clear and concise manner and provide succinct results-oriented legal advice for C-Suite ExecutivesAbility to field issues across a diverse set of legal fieldsStrong interpersonal, organizational and problem-solving skillsAbility to work in a fast-paced, demanding and collaborative environment with many stakeholdersIndependent, self-starter capable of prioritizing conflicting demands and handling multiple assignments simultaneouslyStrong influencing and leadership skills, including decisiveness on both legal and business issuesDesired Qualifications:7+ years’ experience supporting the financial services industry and/or broker/dealer businesses with respect to employment related legal issuesSkills:AdvisoryCorporate Governance ManagementOral CommunicationsStakeholder ManagementWritten CommunicationsAttention to DetailCollaborationIssue ManagementLegal Drafting and WritingRelationship BuildingExecutive PresenceInterpret Relevant Laws, Rules, and RegulationsPresentation SkillsRegulatory ComplianceRisk ManagementMinimum Education Requirement: Doctorate degree in related fieldShift:1st shift (United States of America)Hours Per Week: 40Pay Transparency detailsUS - DC - Washington - 1800 K St NW - 1800 K Street NW (DC1842), US - MA - Boston - 100 Federal St - 100 Federal St Lp (MA5100), US - NY - New York - ONE BRYANT PARK - BANK OF AMERICA TOWER (NY1100)Pay and benefits informationPay range$235,000.00 - $278,000.00 annualized salary, offers to be determined based on experience, education and skill set.Discretionary incentive eligibleThis role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary plan.
