Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced ICU RN for a Medical ICU position requiring 2 years of critical care experience and management of complex cardiac, renal, and respiratory conditions.

Details

• Heavy Medical ICU with some surgical patients, mainly GI or carotid cases
• Unit admits patients from a very active 24/7 Cath Lab
• Patient ratio of 1:2
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:30
• Weekend requirement, varies/flexible
• No on-call requirements
• Floating required to AAU and MS units, and may include affiliate hospitals nearby
• Uses Cerner charting system

Requirements

• Active IN or Compact RN license required, must be in hand prior to start date
• Current certifications required: ACLS, BLS; NIHSS preferred
• Minimum 2 years of ICU experience required
• Cerner charting experience required
• Skilled in interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
• Experience managing multi-system organ failure
• Experience with pre/post cardiac catheterization and intervention care
• Proficient in IV insulin protocols
• Experience with GI surgery patients
• Experience managing chronic and acute renal failure
• Skilled in arterial line management
• Experience with blood product administration
• Proficient in central line and PICC line care/management
• Experience with continuous IV sedation and titrating cardiac and vasoactive drips
• Skilled in BiPAP and CPAP management
• Experience caring for ventilated patients and using HFNC
• Proficient in interpretation of ABGs and suctioning (ETT, NT)
• Knowledgeable in infection prevention and isolation precautions/PPE
• Nursing degree from a school accredited by ACEN or CCNE at time of graduation
• 2 supervisor references required

Additional Information

• Provide critical care nursing to complex ICU patients including cardiac, renal, respiratory, and multi-system organ failure cases
• Scrub color requirement: red top, black bottoms
• Must work 2 of 3 major holidays
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates (IN residents) are not accepted for this position
• Any current or former IU Health perm/PRN employee must be separated for 12 months before applying as a traveler
• Current or past IU Health travelers with 12 months of accrued travel employment must complete a designated break before starting a new assignment
