About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: Labor & Delivery Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum 2 Years License: RN Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NRP, Fetal Monitoring Must-Have: Drive to provide the highest quality of care to our laboring patients. Ability to support patient choice and promote vaginal birth opportunities based on patient preference. Advanced skills in spinning babies and STABLE are helpful. Description: The unit has 9 labor and delivery beds, 3 swing rooms, and 2 operating rooms. It also includes 3 beds for obstetrical emergency department use. Patient ratios are 1 nurse to 2 patients. The staffing includes unit secretaries, scrub techs, dedicated CRNA, midwife in-house 24/7, and OB on call. The unit utilizes a documentation system. Staff will be required to work 4 weekend shifts per month. Floating to maternity/birth or outside tasks may be required. Patient experience scores need to remain above 75%. Required procedures include circulating in OR, IUPC, FSE, and MgSO4. Additionally, knowledge on postpartum hemorrhage and nitrous oxide use is beneficial. The unit has received recognition as a unit of distinction and has participated in pilot programs. The care model includes personalized birth experiences with 24/7 midwives and dedicated anesthesia support. Couplet care is performed in the postpartum unit to keep newborns with their parents. There is a Level 2 NICU with a neonatology nurse practitioner dedicated to the unit 24/7. The NNP is available to attend all high-risk deliveries as needed.
