About the Position

Job Title: RN - Critical Care Profession: Nursing Specialty: Critical Care Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Night Shift Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 3 years of ICU experience required. License: RN license required. Certifications: Required certifications include BLS and ACLS. Must-Have: Experience with CRRT (NxStage) is preferred. Description: This position is in a Level III Trauma Center with a Level II NICU. The facility has 136 beds, including a 17-bed ICU. The patient population includes individuals with conditions such as COVID, sepsis, ETOH, IVDA, overdose, suicidal ideation, delirium, gastrointestinal bleeding, stroke with TPA, and acute renal failure. Surgical patients may include general, orthopedic, ENT, and Client cases. Cardiac and vascular procedures include fem-pop bypass, CABG, valve surgeries, post catheterization (radial approach), AAA, and amputations. Experience with ventilation and trach management, invasive line management, drain/tube management, foley management, chest tubes, post-surgical recovery, and fresh heart experience is required. The ratio is 1 RN to 2 patients, adjusted for acuity, and 1 CNA to 8 patients during the day and 1 CNA to 17 patients at night. The unit is supported by a charge nurse, unit secretary, intensivist available 24/7, ICU-specific pharmacist (day shift only), respiratory therapy, and a phlebotomy team for peripheral draws. The charting system used is EPIC (preferred). Travelers will float first to intermediate units, medical-surgical units, observation units, and ED boarding. This position does not require any on-call shifts. Scrub colors should be any color except for camouflage, denim, or hoodies. More than 2 sick calls will prompt a discussion regarding performance and potential contract evaluation.
