Senior Mold and Tool Maker

The Mold and Tool Maker is responsible for building, fitting, and repairing components for plastic injection molds. This role involves operating manual machines, CNC equipment, and lathes to restore mold components to specification, including machining buildup areas and performing complete teardowns. The Mold and Tool Maker will clean and inspect all mold parts, measure and document repairs or modifications, and make tooling corrections with or without drawings. Your Day-to-Day: Preventive maintenance and repairs on injection molds to include: building and fitting parts for injection molds, welding, blazing and silver soldering for repairs needing build up. Machining build up areas back to specifications. Complete teardown, cleaning and inspection of all mold components. Measure and document repairs and modifications. Building parts to tolerances of.0010 or less. Make correction to tools with or without drawings and/or measure, create drawings for tools that may not have drawings. Coordinate with engineering staff for CAD blueprints. Build new mold components from engineering drawings and CAD models. Use CAD/CAM software such as SolidWorks & SolidWorks CAM/Tool path to program the CNC machine to develop tools, molds and relevant components. Operate conventional and CNC machine tools, EDM, including mills, lathes, grinders, and related equipment General housekeeping duties including sweeping, etc. to keep all work areas clean. Compliance with ISO 9001 standard Commitment to 5s What we would love about you: High School Diploma or equivalent education and experience. 8+ years of experience with mold building and/or mold repair 8+ years machine shop experience Experience with injection molding desired Able to run 3 axis (manual) milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, CNC (Mazak preferred) EDM machine and shop presses. Relevant qualifications include previous experience as Toolmaker/Moldmaker, Machinist, or in a similar role within manufacturing. Experience with hot runner systems. Knowledge of mold steels, heat treating, and welding repairs.
