Clinical Staff Educator - Clinics

Hourly rate: $46.78–$79.58 Schedule: Mon‑Fri, 40 hrs/week Definition Of Position This position reports to the Clinical Education Department Manager. The Clinical Staff Educator provides education and instruction for Good Shepherd staff, focused on clinical staff. The position acts as a resource to all staff regarding healthcare education and training programs, introduces technical and theoretical concepts in teaching techniques to staff and others as needed, supports the development of education with department managers and clinical nurse coordinators, and becomes proficient in the use of simulation training using mannequins and simulation software. The Clinical Staff Educator works closely with other members of the Quality Management team to promote continuous improvement throughout the system and identify educational opportunities. Assists with Quality Department activities as requested. Responsibilities Perform a variety of duties often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure. Accept responsibility for the direction, control, and planning of an activity. Make evaluations and decisions based on measurable or certifiable criteria. Work independently and complete assignments as scheduled or communicate barriers to timely completion to manager. Prioritize job duties and re‑prioritize throughout the day so duties are performed as requested. Evaluate programs and participant learning and make appropriate changes as needed. Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality and handle information appropriately. Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation. Communicate effectively in daily activities. Convey empathy and compassion in conversation. Be self‑motivated, dependable, neatly groomed, personable, and well‑organized. Support the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures. Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position (reference program education curriculum). Perform other related duties as assigned. Qualifications Education Required: Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in nursing. (Experience and national certifications may be considered in place of the bachelor’s degree upon approval and commitment to obtain a bachelor’s degree within 3 years of hire.) Preferred: Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) strongly preferred. Licenses/Credentials Required: Current Oregon RN license; healthcare provider CPR, Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certified. Preferred: NA. Experience Required: Minimum of 5 years hospital nursing experience; proficiency in word processing and internet use. Preferred: Experience teaching others and developing courses, including direct teaching, evaluating the learning process, applying teaching theories and learning models, utilizing simulation manikins and software, and experience as a clinical staff educator. Other Skills Understanding of basic computer network functions; proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, Excel). Excellent telephone etiquette, communication skills, and customer service skills. Fax machine and copier experience. Typing speed minimum 45 WPM accurately. Excellent skills in English, punctuation, spelling, grammar, proofreading. Knowledge of electronic health record system helpful. Ability to provide care for the patient’s age‑specific, cultural, physical, and psychosocial well‑being. Ability to write educational objectives for healthcare employees. Physical Requirements The position requires sufficient auditory, visual, tactile, motor coordination and ability to lift up to 50 pounds independently; occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling; walking and standing continuous; ability to sit for long periods; mechanical aids may be used for heavy loads. Working Conditions Performed primarily in an indoor healthcare environment; subject to variable indoor temperatures; exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, medical equipment; requires adherence to safety protocols and PPE. Fast‑paced, unpredictable, high‑pressure or emergency situations; multiple simultaneous demands; varying noise levels from equipment and staff. #J-18808-Ljbffr
