SAHARA AVE- East Campus - LAS VEGAS, NV 89104## OverviewPosition TypeFull TimeEducation Level4 Year Degree## Description**Assistant Principal Job Description**Under the direction of the school’s Principal, the Assistant Principal serves as a key instructional leader and campus administrator responsible for supporting the implementation of Beacon Academy of Nevada’s alternative education and blended learning model. The Assistant Principal serves as an instructional and operational support leader focused on executing schoolwide systems, coaching staff, and supporting student success.The Assistant Principal supports the Principal in achieving campus performance goals by implementing instructional practices, student support systems, and operational processes, but does not hold primary accountability for campus-level outcomes. The Assistant Principal focuses on improving instructional quality, supporting student achievement, and maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive school environment aligned with the school’s mission to serve at-risk students.This position supports the implementation and monitoring of measurable school and student outcomes in alignment with the school’s alternative education framework, with a primary emphasis on instructional coaching and teacher evaluation.**Role Allocation of Responsibilities:*** 50% Instructional Leadership, Coaching, and Teacher Evaluation* 25% Student Discipline and Behavior Systems* 25% School Support, Title I Coordination, and Operational Support**Terms of Employment****:**This is a salaried, full-time, 12-month position that may require work beyond a traditional 40-hour work week.**Salary**: Compensation for this position is aligned with the school district in which the administrative offices of Beacon Academy are located. Compensation for all positions is determined by the Governing Board and Administration of Beacon Academy. Consideration is given for experience and specialized skills in determining salary.**Essential Duties and Responsibilities****:****Instructional Leadership, Coaching & Evaluation*** The Assistant Principal supports instructional improvement through coaching, feedback, and evaluation under the direction of the Principal.* Supports data monitoring and implementation of interventions.* Conduct classroom observations, instructional coaching, and teacher evaluations aligned to the Nevada Educator Performance Framework (NEPF) and BANV Evaluation tools.* Provide ongoing feedback and support to improve instructional practices, student engagement, and academic outcomes.* Support implementation of the school’s blended learning instructional model, including effective use of Canvas LMS and Infinite Campus.* Assist in monitoring student achievement data, including MAP Growth, course completion, credit attainment, and graduation progress.* Support teachers in delivering rigorous, personalized, trauma-informed, and data-driven instruction.* Facilitate professional development aligned to instructional priorities, student needs, and school goals.* Collaborate with the Principal to ensure alignment of curriculum, instruction, and assessment with Nevada Academic Content Standards and charter commitments.* Serves as the 504 Program Coordinator.* Facilitates special programs, including, but not limited to ELL, 504, IEP, Homeless, and FRL.**Student Discipline, Services & Engagement*** Serves as the primary administrator responsible for day-to-day student discipline and behavior systems.* Lead and oversee student discipline systems, ensuring consistent implementation of school policies and due process requirements.* Conduct investigations, restorative conferences, and behavior interventions.* Support student attendance, re-engagement, and retention efforts.* Collaborate with counseling, social workers, and student services to implement SEL-targeted interventions and wraparound supports.* Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive campus culture.* Serve as a problem-solving resource for students, families, and staff regarding behavioral and student support concerns.* Assist in the implementation of SWPBIS. Monitor, report, and coach the instructional staff on best practices for SWPBS* Instruct and coach the instructional staff on interventions and supports for students who are in need of additional Tier 2 and 3 behavioral supports. Coach staff using the results of the SWPBS Tiered Fidelity Inventory by observing, monitoring, and providing whole school and classroom solutions to improve the total school environment that is conducive to learning and is appropriate to the maturity and interests of Tier 2 and 3 students.**School Support, Title I Coordination & Operations*** Coordinate and support implementation of Title I programs, ensuring compliance with federal requirements and alignment to the School Performance Plan.* Assist in managing and monitoring student data systems, including Infinite Campus and Canvas LMS.* Support assessment coordination, including MAP Growth, WIDA, ACT, and other required testing programs.* Assist with budgeting, resource allocation, and monitoring of grant-funded programs.* Support campus operations, including scheduling, staffing coordination, and program implementation.* Participate in school improvement planning, data team meetings, and leadership collaboration.* Assist the Principal in ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, regulations, and reporting requirements.* Assists with implementation and monitoring of grant-funded programs (e.g., Title I).**School Climate, Culture & Family Engagement*** Promote positive relationships among students, staff, and families.* Communicate effectively with parents/guardians regarding student progress, discipline, and support services.* Support family engagement efforts, including conferences and school events.* Maintain a visible and active presence on campus to support students and staff.**Collaboration & Professional Responsibilities*** Collaborate with the Principal, leadership team, and staff to ensure consistent implementation of school initiatives.* Participate in leadership meetings, professional development, and continuous improvement efforts.* Stay current on best practices in alternative education, blended learning, and instructional leadership.* Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal.* The Assistant Principal will serve as Incident Commander under the EOP - see EOP for more details**Position Expectations****:*** Strong knowledge of instructional practices, coaching strategies, and teacher evaluation systems (NEPF).* Knowledge of state and federal education laws, regulations, and compliance requirements.* Ability to analyze data and support data-driven instructional decisions.* Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills.* Ability to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.* Ability to build relationships and support a positive school culture.## Qualifications**Minimum Requirements:*** Nevada Administrative License (or eligibility pursuant to NRS 391)* Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in Education or related field* Experience in instructional leadership, coaching, or teacher support* Experience working with at-risk students or in an alternative education setting* Experience with LMS (Canvas), SIS (Infinite Campus), and student data systems* Ability to work beyond the standard school day**Preferred:*** Special Education Generalist License* Experience with Title I programs and federal compliance* Bilingual (English/Spanish)**Physical Demands****:**The physical requirements indicated below are examples of the physical aspects that a person holding this position must perform in carrying out essential job functions.
