Overview: The surgical technologist serves as the essential "scrub technologist" within the operating room, ensuring smooth and sterile surgical procedures. Additional duties may be assigned as needed to support surgical services.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Preferred minimum of one year experience as a surgical technologist.
• Proficient in operating complex monitoring and life-saving equipment.
• Ability to perform duties in various assigned surgical areas.
• Effective communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
• Adherence to Standard Precautions to maintain safety and infection control.
• Exposure to blood and other potentially infectious materials through skin, eye, mucous membrane, or parenteral contact is part of the role.
• Understanding of age-specific physiological, psychosocial, developmental, and spiritual needs of patients served.
• Self-motivated with a commitment to continuous learning and achievement of clinical objectives.
• Capable of tolerating long hours and variable shifts.
• Physical demands include extensive standing, walking, bending, lifting, transferring anesthetized patients, and pushing heavy equipment.
• Requires manual dexterity, excellent eye-hand coordination, and sharp visual and auditory acuity.

Licenses and Certifications

• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
