Senior Accountant I

We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant I to own key pieces of our monthly close, financial reporting, and reconciliation work in a fast-paced, high-volume real estate lending environment. You will work in a modern ERP (Campfire) and use AI-powered tools such as Claude and Shortcut to automate the repetitive parts of accounting workflows and partner directly with the Accounting Manager, Accounts Payable, and our external auditors. Responsibilities Own assigned areas of the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close, ensuring tasks are completed accurately and on time Utilize Campfire ERP to process transactions, maintain the general ledger, and execute close activities Prepare internal and external financial reports, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data Leverage AI tools including Claude and Shortcut to draft reports, analyze data, and automate repetitive tasks, freeing capacity for higher-value analysis Properly record business transactions for loan funding and the sale of all products Review bank accounts daily for loan funding and sale transactions Reconcile monthly bank and loan account balances Maintain supporting schedules and balance sheet account reconciliations Partner with Accounts Payable on vendor accruals and cutoff testing Provide information to auditors and tax preparers for year-end reports and filings Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements Review Staff Accountant processes and journal entries, providing coaching and feedback Contribute to process improvement and automation initiatives across the Accounting team Requirements Bachelor's degree in accounting 5+ years of experience in accounting Moderate to advance level of Excel knowledge Experience at a high-volume mortgage loan originator or servicer is preferred but not required Experience with accounting ERP systems and familiarity with Campfire, Snowflake, Tableau, or AI- assisted tools (Claude, Shortcut) a strong plus Ability to work in a challenging and rewarding environment that provides great avenues for personal development Strong organizational skills with proven ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict close deadlines; experience working in a SOX-compliant environment preferred Possess a mindset for perpetual process improvement and efficiency What We Offer Industry Leading Benefits: Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance Life Insurance, Short-Term Disability, and Long-Term Disability Hospitalization and Accidental Insurance Flexible Spending Accounts – Health and Dependent Care Health Savings Account Safe Harbor 401K with company match Growing Families Support (including paid parental leave, infertility support and assistance, childcare reimbursement, and elder care) Pet Insurance Work Life Balance: 12 paid time off days and 5 sick days, in addition to 12 paid holidays – that’s about a month of time to rest, relax, and recharge every year.
