Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Financial Counselor to conduct financial screenings and assist patients in accessing healthcare benefit programs. This role involves interaction with patients to assess eligibility for financial assistance and the processing of applications for various assistance programs. The incumbent will work within a hospital setting.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct bedside interviews with patients to assess eligibility for financial assistance and healthcare benefit programs.
• Screen patients for programs including Emergency Medicaid, ADD, Plan A, Institutional Medicaid, Charity Care, and disability benefits.
• Process and submit both paper and electronic applications, including collecting necessary patient signatures and supporting documentation.
• Manage documentation and data entry accurately within the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Complete and maintain certification for Presumptive Eligibility application processing.
• Independently handle a high volume of patient cases and communicate proactively with leadership as needed.

Qualifications

• Financial Counselor experience required.
• Experience with Explanation of Benefits (EOBs).
• Bilingual, with fluency in Spanish required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with NJ FamilyCare, Medicaid enrollment, or hospital Charity Care programs.
• Proficiency in navigating the EPIC electronic health record system.
• Certified as a Presumptive Eligibility (PE) screener.

Skills

• Proficiency in financial counseling and understanding of healthcare benefit programs.
• Efficient use of EPIC systems for data management and application processing.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to manage high volumes of cases independently.

Schedule

Monday to Friday, with shifts from either 8 am to 4 pm or 9 am to 5 pm.
