Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Medical/Surgical Specialty: RN Medical/Surgical Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 06:45 PM - 07:15 AM Hours per Shift: 13.5 hours Experience: Minimum of 1 year License: Registered Nurse License Certifications: Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification Must-Have: Successful completion of a proctored rhythm test Description: Floating between units or facilities may be required based on staffing needs, patient census, and acuity. Travelers will be notified before their scheduled shift if a float assignment is needed. We are looking for nurses to join our post-surgical care unit. Teamwork is encouraged and appreciated on this unit. There is strong communication and collaboration with providers, including surgical residents available 24 hours a day. Clinical teams will interview prospective candidates prior to presentation for the position. The unit has a capacity of 32 beds. The most frequent patient diagnoses include bowel obstruction, wound infection, gastrointestinal cancers, and morbid obesity. The unit provides post-operative surgical care primarily to general surgery patients. It also accommodates overflow medical and surgical patients from throughout the facility. Patients must be hemodynamically stable and not require mechanical ventilation. The age range of patients served is from young adults to late adults (18 - 60+). Nurse to patient ratios are 1:6. The core staffing plan includes registered nurses, licensed practical nurses, patient care technicians, and nurse interns. An RN is responsible for the patients on each team. Certifications in BLS and NIH are required.
