In this role it is based out of the Las Vegas Health and Wellness Center located in the Courtyard servicing unhoused individuals.The Medical Assistant participates in the delivery of excellent medical services in a patient centered environment with an emphasis on the prevention of disease; preparation of the patient for examination and/or procedures; administers medications under direction of provider; performs in office lab procedures and phlebotomy on pediatric and adult patients; sterilizes instruments and ensure compliance with OSHA regulations. This will include actively participating in and supporting quality improvement activities and the clinical practice teams with these efforts.This role requires strong interpersonal skills, the ability to build trust with patients from diverse backgrounds, and a commitment to treating all individuals with dignity, empathy, and respect. Team members should be comfortable working with patients who may face complex medical, behavioral health, social, and housing challenges. This Medical Assistant position is unique from a traditional clinic-based role. The successful candidate will provide compassionate, patient-centered care to individuals experiencing homelessness and other vulnerable populations.Nevada Health Centers is an employer of choice and offers comprehensive benefits, including but not limited to:Competitive compensation, with annual merit increasesCompany sponsored PPO medical plan and buy-up option, vision, and dental plans403(b) retirement plan with employer matchGenerous time-off policy, and ten (10) paid holidays plus one (1) float holidayCompany paid life/AD&D and long-term disability policiesEssential Duties and ResponsibilitiesPrepare patients and treatment rooms for examination and treatmentTake patient histories and vital signsAdminister injections and apply dressings as instructedPrepare and maintain supplies and equipment for treatments, including sterilizationObserves all infection control policiesAssist providers in preparing for minor surgeries and examsAssist with scheduling tests and treatmentsComplete and maintain patient documentation, files, records and other informationAttend required meetings and participate in committees as requestedWorks closely with the providers to receive guidance and instruction for treating patientsMaintain appropriate communication and good interpersonal skills with supervisors, providers, staff and patients to ensure coordinated efforts and provision of high-quality serviceTake all necessary precautions to protect center assets and property against loss or waste through negligence or dishonestyUtilizes equipment that interfaces with NVHC EMR system (e.g. EKG, spirometry, etc.)Required QualificationsHigh school diploma or GED EquivalentCertification of completion of a Medical Assistant program or equivalent experienceNational certification through NHA as a Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA).
